Hongqiao Liu

Hongqiao Liu is a freelance journalist and political consultant who has worked on China’s environmental and climate protection policy since 2010. Born and raised in China, she holds a Master's degree in International Energy from Sciences Po University in Paris. From 2010 to 2014, she worked for the Chinese media organisations “Southern Metropolis” and “Caixin” as an investigative journalist, covering environmental issues and winning several awards for her contributions. Since 2014, Ms Liu has worked in fields that include policy consultancy for the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development. As a journalist, she has reported on China’s climate protection and energy policy since 2021 for “Carbon Brief”, the newsletter “Shuang Tan2”, which she founded, and in TED Talks.
